No Place For The Young- We Dey Here Some!!!

It was one fine Saturday evening and was so bored at home and decided to go sit out somewhere and have some drinks.
It wasn't a new thing to me as I have always had alone 'chillaxing' sessions overtime. Prior to this decision, I had heard of this joint on the Spintex road which was fast gaining popularity.

CHEERS
I then told myself to go check it out for myself. I am sure a few of you who live around the Nungua-Spintex Road and its environs will at this point have an idea of where I am talking about. Well sorry not to disappoint you, but won't talk about the place and what it looks like. This post will be about some observations I made during my very first and at this point being last.

Immediately I got there, I noticed a few things but thought it was one of those days that young ladies wanted to go out and make a statement with their clothing. So I at that point just closed my eyes to it and went ahead to find myself a seat so I can place my order for a drink. In looking out for a seat, I heard my name from afar, I turned and saw three friends I know very well who - hear this- doesn't live anywhere near this neighborhood but had heard of the joint for the very reasons I was naive about and had come around to see for themselves and if possible transact some business (You get what I mean).

Moving forward, I joined my friends who already had a table to themselves. We exchange the initial pleasantries  then a seat was arranged for me. We immediately started a conversation where my pals started teasing me of also coming to the joint to do whatever they had heard of and also do whatever was to be done. We all joked about it as I tried to convince them it was my first time and had no idea of the attributes of the said place we were. But you know how boys roll on stuffs like these, they wouldn't be bothered by my explanations whatsoever. I then gave up the convincing and there the waiter came around for my order. I placed it and we continued our conversations.

With those friends I had on that table, there wasn't any topic we didn't talk about. We spoke about the economy, work and how the salary nowadays doesn't foot the bills fully, relationships, rental costs, marriage, girlfriends, and many more.

During our chats, one thing was constant, young ladies with exposing body features, some close to no attire at all hovered around, walking forth and back, some in company of two, whiles some walked alone on the road path as well as through the fun lovers and if I can say on lookers by the side of the road where this pub is located. I then asked my colleagues around what was happening here with all these girls? They laughed very loud and asked me if I was a serious student? The next thing that followed was, why would they move all that far from where they lived to come have drinks here. Explaining they had more places closer to them to go do same so I should open my eyes. They expressed shock at my naivety whiles some of them stressed I was faking up not knowing what happened here every evening. A few jokes and teasing went on and we continued our hangout session.

I decided to shine my eyes as we mostly used it down here and observe for myself. Once every moment I turned, I found either a group of girls with the initial clothing exposé attributes around. Some had cigarettes, smoking it out like some chimney releasing smoke into the air, some being called by young men and some old as such hoping to do business. It then made sense to me the reason why the pub had the huge number of people trooping in and out of that place.
I guess by now you'll be wondering how all these notes corresponds to my caption to this blog post. Hopefully the next paragraph should get you to it.

The movements of these girls drew so many attention and ours too, obviously in the case of my friends and at that moment my eyes viewing pleasure. Heads definitely rolled from left to right,  back and forth just to catch a glimpse of the various girls around parading their assets and waiting to be called on. In all these head turnings, I spotted some other different group of ladies hanging around in their own small corner is I can say so ( reason they weren't many and were not hovering around like the younger ones).

CHEERS TO LIFE
The spectacle that drew my attention were these elder errm let me say grown women also standing there to also compete with these young girls for the same intentions. Interesting enough,  these grown women, were very different comparing how they looked as compared to their your younger competitors. They were dressed very differently covering up mostly but with those clothes that were suggestive. As the youngest ones exhibited how hot and 'hard' they were by showing off their tattoos on obscure parts of their bodies, exposing of the cleavage, butt lines, smoking here and there to draw the needed attention,  the much older ones, had positioned themselves in a way that proposed to the folks around to also have a look in at them.

I drew my colleagues attention to what I had unraveled for them to observe and confirm whether what I had seen was indeed true or I was reading the wrong meanings into that. Well after a while, they confirmed in the affirmative.  It actually drew some laughter from the guys as they expressed what they were doing there with such clothing.

As the night progressed, it looked like the battle between the young and old was been won by the young ones. The younger ones had more approaches whiles the older ones stood there watching on. A friend made a cracking remark saying, 'Chale people need young blood , you say what?' We joked over these words contributing various sentiments around it for a while.

Well soon I felt satisfied and had enjoyed myself to a point where I thought it was time for me to get back to my bed.

Life indeed is a great one. Look at it in a way that will make your soul appreciate life as it comes. Till my next post, thanks for stopping by to read your time away on my blog.

AN UNCONDITIONAL LOVE EXPRESSED – ‘I SEE YOU MUM’

A philosopher once stated WORDS really do not have meanings; WE make meanings out of WORDS.

I never got to understand this until a few conversations with some learned friends who broke it down citing examples and also trying to explain from the mind’s eye of this philosopher.

One fine morning, I was a bit tired after a few paper works and decided to log unto Facebook to monitor my timeline on what was running through. I am not a fan of long statements especially when I see the ‘See more’ blue inscription. Scrolling down this particular item from some of the few people I like to read their stuff on my timeline caught my attention. It was a poem so I followed and by the time I was done reading, I was taught another side of love and how it’s expressed.

The writer, a very good friend and yes a good poet at that penned this and shared it with the entire world. But if you missed it and haven’t read it, I bring to you this wonderful piece for which if I am to nominate on any poetry platform, I would gladly do.
It really hits to the core. A lovely piece I will want to have as a copy for myself hence shared here on my blog.

Read on;

I see you mum
I thought i saw you smiling
At the sight of dawn
Though you were but a figment of my imagination
Not that I am hurt
I just miss the purity of your love

I see you mum
With every ray that hits my eye
Dark clouds decide to cover the sun
And i lose sight of you again
No, I am not sad
I just miss your beautiful smile

I see you mum
Singing in the kitchen
I rushed in
Not like I expected the chance
I just miss that sweet voice of yours

I see you mum
Walking pass me at the mall
So I touched you
You turned and looked so different
But I could swear it was you
That long silky hair of yours was the reason

I need you mum
Yes, I have said it
With my heart turning to stone
I need a way out
14 years after, I am wandering

I need you mum
I never finished my cooking lessons
Halfway through
I left and you did too
I came back mum
Why wouldn't you?

I need you mum
Too many people deceiving me with love
How do i tell the right one?
Without you to scrutinize?

I love you mum
Do I even have a choice?
You never failed to see that star
Which existed in my eyes

I love you mum
You genuinely believed I was a special child
That believe kept me going
Did you do that to help me push on?
When you are gone?

Mum, I am all matured now
How I would've pampered you
I am not angry
Neither hurt
I just believe life was most beautiful
When you were around.

Need I say more? I guess not. Very touching right? Honestly we should be grateful to the creator for such gift He grants unto people to bless others. I am sure all the pain they go through to pour out their heart goes a long way to encourage others to push on in life.

LOVE is indeed real and each and everyone of us must make it a point to let all that matter feel and know how well you love and cherish them if the opportunity is available.

HOW FANS OF SARKODIE REACTED TO HIS #NEWGUY SONG

And so it happened one afternoon, with just a single tweet with photos of Sarkodie and Ace Hood sitting in a studio and another on set of a video shoot.

This drew some huge talk in the capital and some o[art of the country for which Sarkodie trended in twitter.

Down the line, and BOOM, rumours of Sark paying some huge amount to get the We Are The Best artist to collaborate to his new joint #NEWGUY. a lot of rumors and talk amidst speculation of all sorts speared all over social media, print media and the likes.

Well to cut it short, finally the tune has been released and it looks like the track is catching fire just a few hours of it's release.

I then decided to follow reaction from various platforms especially on social media on what people were talking and murmuring about in relation to the tune. So sit back and just read through the few I got so you can also make your judgement.

Interesting views I guess from all over to a point where comparisons are been made with other artists on the continent. Continue to check out more views and opinions below.

WHATSAPP MY STATUSES!!

Technology no doubt has created the avenue for fast dissemination of information whether it being on the positive note or on the negative aspect of anything. In times past, it was always difficult to get information either it being a request, wishes, ones current state of being and many more that you can think of.

WHATSAPP

Mobile telephony over say a few decades has really evolved from what it used to be the fundamental purpose for which it was. Some years back, all what people needed a mobile device like the mobile phone was to make calls basically. It then got some enhancements where you could send messages (sms), then later multimedia messages with some low resolution photos.

I am sure at least if you leave in the now age, you will all be the best ones to tell me how important the mobile phone is to some of you. Well I heard somewhere that there are now mobile phone related ailments, be it addiction to eyesight infections to a whole more that I am sure research will continue to bring to our notice.

Then came the age of mobile applications. These really changed the face of how we used our mobile phones, they were given a new cloth, name changed and referred to as smartphones. With the introduction of the camera, high resolution screens and what have you, this handheld devices, became real companions to people. I wont be surprised if you are reading this post on your mobile handset...lol...I got you right?
Applications(apps) revolutionize the face of it and one of the apps that the whole world over, cant be done with is whatsapp.( Check below to download app on the various mobile platforms you have on). For fast communication purposes, this app is very popular and most used no wonder it was purchased for that hefty amount by another technology giant organization.

I am not here to talk to you about whatsapp. I chose the angle of where one will have to put up status on the already downloaded application. It is obvious and somehow conclusive that those status updates, is either expressing ones current state of being, whether referring to someone, him/herself,wishing someone well, telling someone the piece of mind, congratulating someone on a feat, you just name it.

I one day wasn't feeling too well and decided to relax at home for some rest. Around midday,  I took my phone to check my messages as I hadn't done that all morning following countless prompts. I went through them, responded to the ones that needed to be attended to, smiled at the ones that had funny notes, some had inspirational messages and all.

I later thought why don't I refresh my contacts on the application to see if any of my contacts had joined the bandwagon. That was done and now decided to go through the list, then something struck me. Each and every member on the contact list had one status update or the other associated to the name. It really varied from what lets me call this 'walks of talk'. The messages really trans versed from lets say archaeology to zoology, being it motivation,  birthday wishes, get well messages, expression of affection, celebration of a friend,  lover and so have you. I monitored this for a while and thought why don't I bring to my readers how my Timeline of whatsapp statuses looks like. If you find something similar to yours, don't worry your identity is safe with me.
KING WHATSAPP

Whew!!! I now get to my plot of this post. So I will be sharing the messages I wake up every morning or intermittently as and when I launch unto the application. These are randomly chosen spanning over 4-5 days. I am sure you are aware that the app has its own predefined ones that are on when you sign up unto the the application. I won't dwell on that even though a few use it either for convenience sake or chale they don't know where to click and effect that change.....laughing at this line....please don't kill me......LOL!!

Now lets ride;

Where there is a will, there is a way
Burn those that hurt you with forgiveness....TYLJ
Your eyes on me
If I could have my wish today
Minds are like parachutes, they only function when opened
I pray, you pray, we pray
While I breath, I hope...
Qui sera sera what ever will be will be
When you choose to love someone, you take them as is. Faults and all...Thank you Lord
Joy comes in the morning, I will wake up with mine as well as yours
Learning- Life is nothing without friendship
One Love
I don't do mediocre
Congratulations Roboo!
Got a phone now......whatsapp working Sorry guys
Happy birthday to my son Jason, you brought joy to my life
Yesu Mekra adamfo pa

At one point of going through, I thought I was in a motivational cum inspirational session or therapy if you want call it so, then you get to be hit with some other statuses which will make you realise that yes we are humans and not all fall in the same line.

Check these few out and you will realise it does fall in line with the few I gave earlier.

Sleeping Cha Cha Cha!!

Hey fellow visitors to my blog, hope the year has been good to you so far. As always a pleasure to see you check up on my posts to read away your time.

This particular post is more of a fun one for which I might not waste much of your time.

It happened in the house of God when I went to church over the weekend to worship. Reason why I titled it Cha Cha Cha, I am sure you will find out as you read along and eventually, at the end of it.

Before I push through my theme, I decided to pick out a few quotes that relates to church, maybe in between the post, I might push in some funny quotes about church also.

Church attendance is as vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man-DWIGHT L. MOODY

The Church is not a gallery for the better exhibition of eminent Christians, but a school for the education of imperfect ones - HENRY WARD BEECHER,

The Church must be intelligible to the simple as well as to the shrewd - ROBERT HUGH BENSON

So now let's ride on.

THE CHA CHA CHA BEGINS;

In the moment, we had observed the bible reading, worship, praises and offertory sessions not forgetting that of those who came in with various prayer requests as well as thanksgiving notes.

Then came the moment for which the congregation I am sure had left their comfortable homes to observe on this Sunday, was to listen to the preaching of the gospel. The preacher mounted the pulpit and his session began.

Down the line in his sermon delivery, I spotted one elderly woman ordering her grandchild to stand-up. The reason, the child was dozing and feeling so sleepy that he couldn't open both eyes. Intermittently, I stole a glance to see what transpired. At one point, I noticed the elderly woman pinching the young lad as well as rubbing his face for him to open his eyes. This young chap was so dead feeling sleepy and at a point, the elderly woman had to give up and allow the young man to take that so wanted nap during service hours.

A couple of minutes went by and as usual wanting to know what ensued further, I found out to my amusement, the elderly woman herself dozing off seriously. I happened to see her head doze down twice for the split second I turned. This really brought laughter to my face and few funny thoughts as well as questions. One of the thoughts were, how I wished the young lad had woken up to see granny now competing him.

Thinking I had had enough of a sleeping drama in church that faithful day, midway through the sermon delivery, I found a couple and their beautiful little daughter in a whole exciting drama of sleeping CHA CHA CHA. In between sessions, I found the wife dozing here and there. I thought it was normal somehow especially with the very previous incidence witnessed. But there was a twist to this one. Anytime the wife was in her sleepy moments, the husband will tickle her to wake up.

Moving forward at one point, I spotted the husband also been caught by the sleeping bug. Beautifully, the wife returned the favour by tickling him also to wake up. The husband realizing this, got out of slumber, gave his wife a wink and both smiled over it. This was after say two sessions of tickling each other to stop sleeping during the service. I remember posting this love sleeping session on one of my social media platforms and it really drew some interesting comments from friends and followers.

I think at a point, I also dozed off before the entire service ended. I hope the video coverage camera didn't catch me during the period I was dozing. I again hope you enjoyed reading my church sleeping experience.

Again, thanks for stopping by my blog. Cheers and have a great week. If you see me in town, just say hi!!!

Letter To K.B. - My Tribute!!!

Dear Ghetto KB,

Death-
Our lives made pure
In another realm

GHETTO K B
I first heard your music on a radio station. Your song especially that particular one was unique and no wonder it was repeated couple of times before the show ended.

I then asked myself who was this artist that did this tune, the reason being that, this particular tune spoke a lot of sense and personally motivated me that very afternoon. I then went online to ask the host of that show and there a connection was made. I went ahead to download the tune and for the next few days, it was my joint to the envy of my siblings. It was on repeat all day.

I remember tweeting at you to salute you and your response was even more encouraging. In a short while, I had learnt the lyrics of this song.

I later found out that you had done other good tunes that were enjoying airplay all over the airwaves but to me this particular tune was my gig to cherish

For a tune that will have lines like;

"The truest form of love is how you behave towards them not how you feel about them"

"Closed in a room, my imagination becomes the universe and the rest of the world is missing out".

"So never give up, never give in and never stop trying. Don't ever sell out and if you find yourself succumbing to any of the above for a brief moment, pick yourself up brush, yourself off, whisper a prayer and start where you left off but never ever give up".

It obviously gave me the conclusion that, its the best rap song I had heard all year even though the year is still young.

Maybe I should have written this letter to you earlier for you to know one of your songs made a strong impact on me at a point where my life was in a downfall and being faced with a lot of decisions to make. It's also very sad that with all the talent your maker grated you, you didn't use it alone but shared it by contributing to a lot of people's music careers.

As young as you lived, I am sure your life was well spent because you always wanted to do this and make a mark. To me, this mark is made.

As we all can't question life, I have the strongest of beliefs that you will be resting in perfect peace. Shuttered myself and a couple of friends I had a chat with about you were of the view you should have stayed alive a few more years but the creator knows best.

I wish I could have met you before you left but it was never meant to be. Maybe just maybe, we might meet somewhere if it should happen. Enough tears we can't shed but I will personally be consoled by your LETTER TO RAP song.

Bless the tides that be. Demirifa Due
REST IN PEACE - GHETTO K B

Sadly yours,
BraQwophi

Thanks David Nikoi for the short piece on Death. Very much appreciate the gesture.

A JAM SESSION ACCOUNT- ELECTIONS AND IT'S EFFECTS ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Over the weekend of February 6th to 8th 2015, Ghana hosted hundred of the sub region’s brain boxes of entrepreneurs at GIMPA. What were they here for, TechCamp West Africa.

TECHCAMP WEST AFRICA 2015 - ACCRA
A maiden event and arguably one of an experience, the conference had as its theme; ENTREPRENEURSHIP: ADAPT, EMPOWER, MEASURE. It was intended to bring one hundred young social entrepreneurs from Ghana, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Togo, Benin and Cote d’ Ivoire to gather and engage in hands-on capacity building, and networking with the region’s leading government, academic, civil society and business experts.

The public-private initiative spearheaded by the US Embassy Ghana and the GhanaThink Foundation was to encourage cross border collaboration, inspire entrepreneurship, and promote increased trade across borders.

Session began with attendees (participants) briefly introducing themselves, what they do and the various countries they represented.

Lead panel Seyi Taylor and Cyriac Gbogou opened the discussions by asking participants which countries were having elections in the sub-region and participants’ stated a few. Participants from Liberia pointed out they had their elections the previous year and it was well noted.

Moving forward in the discussion, participants expressed how the period of an election affected their businesses. One of the participants from Liberia stated that, his NGOs main sponsor left the country and haltered all funds that had been agreed to sponsor its programs for the year. This he expressed really affected his organization as one of the programs of the organization was targeted at poverty alleviation and scholarship grants to needy children towards their education.

Another participant from Ghana stated that “My opportunity to gain that funding for my organization was declined later after it had been agreed in principle that my application had been approved. The reason, because a prominent politician who was contesting a Member of Parliament seat had come in for a colossal amount to fund his campaign and was considered a priority client”. This participant expressed disappointment because it affected his schedule of operations for the next period.

It seemed unanimous that, in the sub-region, one thing was evident; organizations are tagged to either the ruling government or the opposition party mostly based on perception or at some point your affiliation in society.

In as much as electioneering period affected some entrepreneurship ventures, there were some good news in some aspects as, the period helped some of the participants to explore their entrepreneurship self.
One of the participants stated that, the elections helped his organization to enforce the reason why one should vote and not accept bribes to induce their decision. They in turn set up a working post where information dissemination made them gain funding from some organizations to support their project. This participant was from Liberia.

Another positive note that was shared in this Jam session was from a member of lead panel who hails from Ivory Coast, stated the election period encouraged him to set up an sms application solely to debunk rumours pertaining to the general elections. This application was designed to create the awareness what that was true and not true running around in the country. During the election day, the app extended its services to providing information on where election materials were available, were not available and to announce violence in an election locality. This he said attracted some funding from corporate bodies.

Revealing during the Jam session was a term in the mobile telephony circles which had similar references in the sub-region. In Liberia, Ghana, and Nigeria, it is referred to as FLASH whiles in Togo and Ivory Coast it’s known as BEEP. This is where a main call is stooped after a connection is established and the recipient gets notified and shows as missed call. Interestingly, in Liberia, it depends on the intellectual affiliation level where the somehow educated folks call it flash and the rural folks used beep. This actually drew loud laughs in the room ending in applause. It was news to me and for once I learnt another thing that was general in the sub-region.

It was therefore agreed by both participants and lead panel that, as an entrepreneur in West Africa, you must have a working plan specifically spelling out your strengths especially during an election year so your business isn't affected.
