Good Old Friends, The Real Deal

Life in its entirety is about making the best out of every situation. One other facet of it is the meeting of people from all walks of life and getting to know them the best way you can.
Some people come into your life I diverse ways, different circumstances but in all it comes together to make this thing called life a beautiful one. Obviously there are those situations where meeting people might have caused some troubles, and the likes but irrespective of every thing, it should help us grow as a people.

Over the weekend, I received a phone call from an untagged number. Initially I was adamant in picking the call but after a few rings, I chose to pick up the call. And to my surprise, it was from an old friend and a very cherished one at that. Two more years and our friendship will be hitting 20 years.

We met in high school as classmates but were not the best of friends ( I will keep the story for another day). We later became very very good friends and we've seen no turning back. Never have we quarrelled nor had any misunderstanding whatsoever.

She happened to check into town and since she knew I was based here now, she decided to check up on me as it had been a while not seeing each other. I later arranged a meet up so we could catch up on all that was going on in our lives.

Later that evening, I picked her up at her hotel and we went out to grab some bites. It was as if we never had some distance and time apart as friends. It picked up immediately and the conversation kept flowing and flowing. We talked about a lot of things, some advises were shared, some problems in our lives came up and we talked about virtually everything, her children, work, plans and all.

At a point the hangout joint we were sitting at, had to close and we were not even half way our conversation. We later checked the time and it was some few minutes to midnight. The question she asked was, 'where did the time run to Kofi?' We later then decided to take a long walk to her hotel since it wasn't that far from where we hanged out.

There the other chats that were left off came up. A very refreshing moment we had that we had not had in a long time. It was just as our friendship began. Up until our meet up, I will get back from work and head straight to my my room and just cool off, well I got a query for that and I was tasked to step out a little to wind down. I think I will take that bit and see how that goes.

As always as I told her, I cherish every moment we get to link up and just talk. I also took one thing out from our meetup. If you make even just one true friend, try all you can to keep it no matter the status each and everyone finds him or herself in at any point in life. Also never forget to check up on people you've known in your life's journey.

Pick that phone and five that old friend a call and say hi.
Once again, thanks for passing by my blog. Cheers everyone!!

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL! ENJOY IT, APPRECIATE IT and LOVE IT!!

IN MEMORY: SKY+FACE !!

"Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle Autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep".
- An Indian Memorial Poem

I haven't been in the best of health and general mood during the week has been down but in all these work had to be done.

I had a few client complains that needed attention and prompt solutions to be meted out. I joined my driver for his usual deliveries and supply schedule so I use that opportunity to meet up with them personally.

One after the other, I handled the very simple ones to the complex ones, and for those that needed further attention, assurances were given to them that action would be taken to their best interest.

As we went along, I felt a little tired and decided I get myself some refreshment of a sort since I am not a big fan of Energy drinks. I spotted a mini mart around and pleaded with my driver to pull the breaks so I get something. He did and I got of the van heading straight to the mart. Approaching the mart, I coincidentally hit my foot against a stone which drew the attention of the people in-front of the mini mart who were also getting one thing or the other from the same mart I was approaching. Immediately I raised my head up so I take a few steps to the mart for the attendant serves me. In the process of raising my head, I saw an inscription on the side of the mart, a dress- makers shop written in chalk, SKY FACE.

Immediately, I startled a bit and went further to have a real look at it if it was a spelling mistake or for real written right. The latter was the case, very well written as you can see from the photo taken and attached to this post. I then took out my phone and took a couple of shots. After getting back into the van, I took out my phone to look at the photo captured.
SKY+FACE

It then dawned on me for a brief moment that yes I really missed my favourite cousin who was that selfless and always happy to make you happy.

I still remember when our house attire came through and we were to receive them from the bursar's office, immediately you got yours you wore it right in front of the library of Nifa Secondary School and walked up the hill to our 1B1 classroom to the amazement and admiration of many.

Till this day, we all know you created a vacuum in our hearts but we mourn no more Nana Kumi, we believe as a family as well as your close friends and mates that you are definitely resting in perfect peace.

STILL CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE AND HOPEFULLY WE SHALL MEET ON THE OTHER SIDE.

HAS IT FALLEN THAT LOW?

And then 2015 ended calmly and we were ushered into the new year.

Invitations to a lot of social events came through for which I chose quite a number to attend.
So the very first social event for 2016 was the wedding ceremony of a working colleague. It was out of town so had to travel the distance to make it there. Somewhere in the Eastern region is where it took place.

Right on time, I made it to the service and everything as planned began. Time went by and the service went on and on and on. The groom came in and it was time for the bride to show her presence for the solemnization to begin. Minutes went by, then it turned into an hour of waiting. Various singing groups were called upon to minister different songs from worship, to reggae, to praises all in anticipation for the arrival of the bride but still it was a no show from the bride. It was an hour and a half gone and the bride had not showed up. People started to express some level of anxiety and anger as it was getting annoying to a few myself inclusive. I asked a friend who also knew the groom and had come to support, why it was always the case with brides delaying to show up. Well guess what she showed up two hours after the groom had taken his seat.

Fast forward to the plot of my post, I will try to get that bit of why brides, if I will say take delight in keeping everyone waiting for such long periods during their wedding days.

Soon they were pronounced man and wife after their vows exchange and it was time for merry making. Photographs were taken and we all headed to the reception grounds. Guests and family got seated awaiting the newly weds to come take their seats so the other half of the day could continue.
Then the MC showed up! He started with some jokes and introduced himself to the gathering. All through his presentation and MC duties, coordination of what follows what on the outlines program was duly delivered with dexterity. He did well in mixing both the English and Twi languages to the admiration of everyone. Still that doesn't pitch in my plot for this post.....lol!

Here it is......recently the form of worship with reference to Christianity has come under a lot of scrutiny. Several reasons have been assigned to the modern ways of worship in recent times.
Throughout his MCing, one thing that run through was how the various forms of worship in the christian faith was used as jokes and used them as jokes formats. One of the very repeated ones was the speaking of tongues. The sight and movements that ensued around immediately warranted a form of prayer and ended in the tongue speaking craze which drew laughter and giggles from most people around.

Personally I wasn't enthused by those gimmicks and thought I was the only one. Right behind me, I overheard some grown up women expressing their displeasure of that particular aspect of his mcing. One of the women expressed in twi "Enti ebi nom ensuro Nyame anaa?" meaning "so don't some people fear God?"

That wasn't the only time I had heard of such jokes. On a lot of platforms, I have heard such lines being jokingly expressed. In not trying to compare to other religions, will they - comedians, MCs etc try that other forms of worship of other religions?

Aside the tongues bit, kindly share any experience you've had where certain forms of worship of other religions has been jokingly expressed even though will prefer more of the christian religion.

Cheers and have the best of 2016 and welcome to another run of cool posts from me.

It's New Year's Day 2015

And its a new year. I am sure the previous year treated you fairly to life and its progressions.
This is a fun post if I can call it so to just let you know how I have been rolling throughout the new year's day of 2015.

To begin with, my day began in church. You want to know where I fellowship? Vertical Center Restoration Tabernacle, (Spoken Word) inside Tema community One.. I was at the crossover service.
I later ha my first meal of the new year around 3:48am thereabouts. Well guess what it was....see the photo for yourself.

I then decided to watch movie and the one the won for me to watch was 'We're The Millers'. Loved the comedy bit to the film but trust couldn't see the end of the movie. I slept off along the line. This was around 4:20 am thereabouts also.

Woke up to the terrible harmattan around 9 am and headed straight to the shower to take my bath. Got myself some coffee and tea bread and went on to finish off my movie from where I left off.
I later got a phone call from a close friend whose wife requested I join them for lunch which I gladly accepted. I got there around 15 hours GMT and in a few minutes, food was ready. Folks don't go there. Some wild fufu bi paa....chai....I didn't spare it at all.

To check up on a friend on how the day was going, I found out they had a basketball session at the Lizzy Sports Complex inside east legon. Joined him and the rest of the group around, shared some pleasantries and wished ourselves the best of the year. We knocked of around 6pm. Why? The club I support Tottenham Hotspurs was playing Chelsea. Errm I am sure you knew how the game ended.....wanna still know the scores?...ok it ended 5:3 in favor of Spurs...were you thinking otherwise? Oh you paa!!!

Well more things happened today o, but honestly a few more to go......now stretch and read on. Myself and my other pals continued to Papas Pizza for errm call it refreshment.

Obviously you know what flowed on the table aside, the pizza. In addition, we had long chats, looked back at the year just gone by, cracked up lots of jokes and many more just for the fun bit.of our meeting. This went on for over two and a half hours.

Let's digress a little on this post. It was an incident that happened at the pizza joint. It actually goes to confirm the case of customer service in this country. Still very poor and the earlier service providers back up, the better. We had to wait and I personally had to move around to look for the waiter that served our table to pay her her money after confirming she had forgotten about our table. A few of my pals at a point suggested we leave but others insisted we wait a little and sort it out. In the end, we did the needful by waiting for her to show up and paid her.

A little pissed, among few of my friends, we departed going our various ways. I later boarded a trotro home. Aside all these events happening all day, there were periods of me being on social media reading a whole lot, from scandals, to court issues, sports news and the likes. As usual twitter and Whatsapp were the dominant ones.

Well before I close this post, I hope you have an amazing year of 2015 filled with blessings of all you desire, want and need.

The best of the New Year!!! Afehyia Pa !!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR

When a Song Gives You a Second Look at LIFE.

Music they say is the food to the soul. Well for me I think it goes even further.

I am a big fan of music where my interests spans very wide. It'll shock you the kind of music tunes I would die to have and listen to. Personally I am a big fan of listening to full albums than singles. I have mostly discovered much better tunes on albums than the very popular ones that might be running wild on the airwaves.

As a background to his post, I will attempt to lay out how two tunes gave me hope and the mindset to take a second look at life and how it could play out with a new framed mentality.

I had been involved in a trust and failure issue one afternoon and was very dejected. Trying to cut myself out, I launched my tunein app on my tablet to listen to some hard music, no matter the genre. I just needed something to fill up my mind for that moment. So randomly, I chose a station from the favorites and with my headphones on, a song being played was just about ending. A few tunes came by and the tune which I think did the trick for me was from Coldplay titled LOST. I had always known this song but never knew the title. Actually there is a rendition of this from BOB and its the tune that drew me to the original. I did a few searches online and I got the title and the lyrics. It has also been downloaded.

It ends and the very next tune that comes on was the tune from Labrinth feat Emile Sande and guess the title, BENEATH YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Initially I didn't know who did the tune so I recede out for my soundcloud application to track who did that tune. I later downloaded it and have been enjoying it.

After these two particular tunes I was really motivated to take another step and push further no matter what had happened. I got these tunes for myself and the next morning, there were on my playlist for the whole day. I am sure when I put down the lyrics of the two tunes you'll get to understand what I am driving at.

Motivation and upliftment can come in various forms, it could be from a speaker, your pastor, life lessons, friend, or even yourself. This time round I got it from the tunes of the music artists. No matter the genre of music they do, those tunes gave me some hope. I have always said this, I appreciate Life and I will cherish it in any form it comes.

Check out the Lyrics to Coldplay's - Lost below;

Just because I'm losing
Doesn't mean I'm lost

Doesn't mean I'll stop

Doesn't mean I would cross

Just because I'm hurting

Doesn't mean I'm hurt

Doesn't mean I didn't get

What I deserved

No better and no worse

I just got lost

Every river that I tried to cross

Every door I ever tried was locked

Ohhh and I'm...

Just waiting 'til the shine wears off

You might be a big fish

In a little pond

Doesn't mean you've won

'Cause along may come

A bigger one

And you'll be lost

Every river that you tried to cross

Every gun you ever held went off

Ohhh and I'm...

Just waiting until the firing stopped

Ohhh and I'm...

Just waiting 'til the shine wears off

[piano solo]

Ohhh and I...

Just waiting 'til the shine wears off

Ohhh and I..

Just waiting 'til the shine wears off

This song gave me an opportunity to take a second look at Life after my ordeal. I am motivated and encouraged to go on and make it work.

I hope you also don't give up and push on. Maybe this tune and post might help you take a second look at life as it helped me do.

How I Spent My New Years' Day

And in a twinkle of an eye, 2013 was over and 2014 was ushered in.

It happened that at the transition period, I found myself in church. We had some friends from far and near who worshiped with us into the new year.

Church was done with and it was time to fratenise. Met some new people and reconnected with a few that I had not seen all year through, some of them were out of the country, some out of town due to job and many other circumstances. We shared some jokes and spoke words into each others lives wishing each and everyone the best of the new year.
It was time to get back home to catch some sleep before dawn broke. I reached Nungua at about 3:39 am and had a call from a very good friend asking me to show up immediately at his new year party. He did the same thing last year and it looks like that is his chosen date for any party of a sort from him. I so turned up and it was also a fun time to be remembered. Here i also met some new people and once again reconnected with some old friends. We had interacted on so many issues throughout the year, from social programs to politics, to religion, to marriage and many topics you can think about.

I decided to leave the venue to go back home at around 4:25 am. In as much as I was enjoying the convos with my folks , I was also in one way being entertained in a lengthy chat with a lady friend somewhere in Europe. We shared how the day went, what we all did on that day and what I was doing at the particular moment up and not sleeping. Well that kept me company till I reached home. I decided to catch some sleep as wanted and the next thing bam, I was drowned in my sleep.

Fast forward, some hours later I was up and decided to clean and fix my room a little. I swept, packed a few things up that were not lying in it right place, took out a few cabwebs, laid my bed with a new bed sheet, and dustered my closet. I was exhausted after that and took a short nap after. Later it was midday, so I grabbed some snack and guess what it was, Vita Milk Chocolate and fruit cake. After enjoying that, I went to the showers and sat down to have a plan on how to enjoy the day, either to go out or still stay indoors resting. So I made a few phone calls and some friends came around my house. Boom, the merrymaking had began, a caucus one too ofcourse.

Some hours later, it was time to go watch the EPL game between the club I support, Tottenham Hotspurs and Manchester United. Instead of watching it at home, we agreed on going to a sports bar and pub to watch it so we can have our freedom to rant and make all the funny comments that comes with watching a football(soccer) game. We then made it to town and when we arrived, we were about 13  minutes late into the game. I was a bit relaxed and was seriously sitting on hooks just waiting for us to go ahead first. Because with our current run of performances, conceding first would have dumpened our spirits of a comeback into the game. Yeeesss!! Was my initial reaction when Adebayor nodded the ball at the back of the Man United net. In fact I was the only true true if I may say Spurs fan in the pub, the rest surely were United haters who just wanted them to loose.

So the game ended 2:1 in favour of my club Spurs and it was all smiles for me and the match day haters of Man United. We hanged around the pub for a little while and we decided to change locations. We visited an eatery joint had some meal and it was about time to call,it a day. On my way home I met a friend who I spoke to earlier at the crossover service. He had wished me a happy new year and was again wishing me for the second time in just one day. It was interesting for me because I had also encountered the same thing some hours back when a female friend also wished me twice on different occasions on the same day.

In all, it was a great day fun filled. I enjoyed every bit of it, I certainly left a few things since I don't want to take all of your time. This is my first blog post for 2014, so I am sure going to be here. Come around my blog often, because I will be updating it with interesting lifestyle post. I love to blog if I have the time.

Wish all my followers and regular visitors from all over the world to my blog the best of 2014. Wish you all have a good one and wish you well in all endeavors. May all your dreams and aspirations be manifested. Believe in yourself and keep pushing till you exhaust all possibilities. It shall be well folks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! CHEEERRRRSSSS!!!

Full Moon Launch - Wear Ghana Stands Out

It was all hyped on the launch of a brand name in the fashion fraternity here in Ghana.

The campaign was so much driven by social media and to my amazement on that day, it was spectacular the number of persons that turned up at the event at the African Regent Hotel for the launch of Wear Ghana and brainchild of a good friend Awura Abena Agyeman.

It all begun with a 15.11.13 campaign on #Facebook. This stunt in a way, if I may call it so, rose eyebrows especially from mates and colleagues I attended university with as well as other friends in my social circles. As some thought it was my day of getting married, others, thought I was travelling abroad, some also thought I was getting into a new employment. So the question was that, "Yo, what's up on 15.11.13?"

Well I enjoyed the suspense and the triggering of all that they thought was associated to this date....my response to them was "I will keep you posted and update you all when the time is near"

Fast-forward to my theme for this post, so after all the euphoria drawn around this date, it was time to reveal the 'Secret'.... it was the launch of a Brand name that I believe will rock the fashion industry in the coming years #WearGhana.
The Full Moon on Wear Ghana Launch

Now after everything as per the program of the launch had been completed, it was time to network, buy the designs on display, meet up with friends on all the various platform for which the program was advertised. People reconnected especially me, I happened to reconnect with a friend I had during my days as a National Service person at Hohoe Ghana Commercial Bank. He was at Barclays bank, I had not seen him after his wedding four years ago and it was a great occasion to met him once again. We re-lived our exploits on weekends, the fun times and everything that made our period as friends there a great one.

Well the hall way to and from the shop where most of the interactions went on was so packed that, the air-conditioned hallway was very hot and I begun sweating...yes everybody knows that I sweat profusely with the slightest heat. So I took a stroll out to stand in-front of the hotel to catch some fresh air.

Immediately I was out, I raised my head up, and a beautiful spectacle gripped my sight, it immediately dawned on me that 'Today is definitely the perfect day for Debbie ( as I affectionately call her) to launch her Brand'.

The rest is history and the day ended with lots of fun that will surely for a long time to come be remembered as a great day to be proud of.

So before I end this blog here is a Public Service Announcement (PSA) from Wear Ghana : Be sure to visit the Wear Ghana pop-up shop inside the African Regent Hotel from now till November 27th, 2013 to grab that special outfit for the upcoming festive season. Thank You a 30 Times !!!

My life over the years has seen so many changes and dramatic ones as such. Along the way, I met some true friends, some I still have, some I lost along the way either by location change, settlement, work etc.

In all these, I enjoyed every bit of it. I tried to give my all in many of those relationships I was in with them not forgetting the human nature in me, I am sure I might not have been perfect in some of those relationships, but as I always try to reconcile and make peace, I had this and still have this to say any time.... Life is best what you make of if taking into consideration the opportunities that abounds and surround you, so take into consideration what is right and believe in it and be sure and fast to accept the wrong, apologies and move on.

Last Monday, September 30th 2013, I turned 30 years. That I am grateful to the Almighty God for keeping me and my life to see this number of years on earth. I have gone through tremendous illnesses, and accident that could have taken my life, a stomach disorder that required some operations, and many more that I can't mention all of them here.

On that day, I was overwhelmed by the love showed me by friends from far and near. With my social media networking presence, I was blown away by the various messages and wishes as well as prayers  proclaimed unto my life. Facebook as usual had the bunch, then it turned to twitter and then Instagram, emails, whatsapp and many more. I had virtually all day reading messages and wishes. It was fun and enjoying to know that one had some remembering friends.

Well my plot for writing this blog post, is to express my profound gratitude to each and every one, who called, texted, whatsapped, prayed, Facebooked, twittered at me, emailed me etc. I am very much grateful once again and want to use this opportunity to say THANK YOU A 30 TIMES. may the almighty grant you all your heart desire and all that you wish as well as aspire for. I will never forget this gesture done to me. You will all be remembered.

I leave you with one message: REALIZING THAT YOU TREASURE EXPERIENCES OVER POSSESSIONS MAKES LIFE BETTER.

Cheers!!!
